Toy2r Chinese Qee Series

Toy2R have showcased ten designs from ten CHinese artists in the 2.5" Inches Qee series.

Word is that they will be released around August time and will have special chaser designs too.

Most of the designs feature traditional Chinese elements while some blend the traditional with street art and graphic design.

Tune of the week: Faye Wong - Wishing We Last Forever

Classic song from an all time greatest Chinese female artist, Faye wong. Relaxing and lyrics are moving and touching.

Story behind this song is that the lyrics come from an ancient poem by a famous Chinese poet, Su Shì.

The poet is sad, anguished, and drinking, because he is separated from his lover. He contemplates the moon, asking when it is ever clear and round, symbolizing happiness and the reunion of lovers; he consoles himself with the thought that his lover is gazing at the same moon. Ancient Chinese (wényán) is really a separate language, and not easy to translate. Here is the ending of the poem, in a very literal and then a free translation.

'People have sadness/cheerful parting/meeting
The moon has dark cloudless circle lacking
This matter ancient difficult wholly
Only wish person long time
A thousand miles share beautiful abandonment

Life is about parting and coming together
The moon has times when it is not round
It has ever been difficult to manage this
Only wishing for eternity
No matter how far apart, it is happiness to see the same moon'

Kanser ToyQube

Toyqube's 'Kanser' line is about to get a Chinese opera makeover.

Originally from Brooklyn and now living in Portland, 'FILTH' was inspired by Chinese opera masks. Chinese opera masks are said to have different meanings and symbolize different emotions and personality's, depending on the way they were painted.

There will be two editions of the designs, a pink design, which is limited to only 500 pieces and a black Toyqube exclusive, which will be at an even rarer 100 pieces.
